Bear food

So we went camping with our ward last weekend.  It was fun for the most part. The night was awful though.  It was FREEZING! If I had realized how cold it was gonna be I would have brought better clothes.  I'm just lucky I brought long pants.  Poor Sariah though couldn't handle it.  She wouldn't sleep unless she was being held so she could suck the body heat from me, so I held her all night.  Didn't sleep much but I got enough.  I think really the worst part for me was our ride wanted to go on a hike so we were stuck at the campsite until after one, so half of our day was gone.  I wanted to be productive!  Our apt is in the process of being dejunked so it was a mess and I just wanted to get home to start dejunking.  Sam and I ended up staying up super later working on it.  We finished our bedroom on Tuesday though.  Still working on the rest of the place.


We got a new piano!

Sam has always wanted an upright and he found one at the DI that he really wanted.  It has some work, but I do like it.  Now we need to sell our other piano! Any takers?

I will be slightly sad to see it go but I never really played it.  I was always scared our neighbors would get mad (happened before in a different apt. Girl chewed us out for playing too much).  The new piano has a damper on it that works pretty well so it's easier to play without fear.

Other news? I'm making a wreath for our door! I'm mostly excited because I'm making it so that I can change the decorations on it for each holiday/season without changing the actual wreath itself.  It's letting my creative juices flowing.  I'm starting to realize that I am more creative/artistic when I can think of functional things to make in an artistic way.  So for example this wreath I get to make all the decorations for it in one wreath.  I think if I were to make a wreath for every season/holiday I would get bored after the first one, cuz you don't really need a wreath for everything.  But now that I've figured out to make a decoration for the wreath for everything I'm way more excited about it.  I will post pictures as soon as I get it done!  Another nice thing about it is I don't have to make all the decorations for each holiday at once.  That way I have more projects to do later for it and it's not overwhelming right now.  I'm going to do fall, halloween and thanksgiving for the first ones.  And go from there as Christmas gets closer.  Another great thing is if I get bored with, let's say the halloween decoration, I can change it in a couple years to something new!

Anyways, I'm gonna go work on my wreath! 

Successful diy project done!

I finished my first diy project! It took a few tries to really figure out what to do, but I'm pleased with the end result.  Not super fancy/cute but I'm sure I could fix that if I can find the right tools.  Anyways here's a pic of my first successful project!

Like I said: doesn't look super fancy right now.  But it's functional! We'll work on the visual appeal later.

Next project? Make up thingy majig... kind of hard to explain, but if I'm successful I'll post about it.  I also want to re-upholster our love seat.  I've researched it a little, but I really want to find some fabric that is cheap, durable and cute first.  So we'll see if that project ever comes about.

New blog name needed

Another post... in the same day! Go me! Really though this post is to put out there that I need suggestions for a new blog name.  Right now it works because we are still living among Utards.  But eventually we will move! And since I myself am not a Utard I would like to change the name.  So thoughts, suggestions?  I'd like to keep it some what discreet so that some weirdo doesn't track us down.  And if you are a weirdo trying to track us down, my mother AND brother are second degree black belts and will hunt you down.  Too harsh? Eh. Moving on.  Suggestions! Please!

Well I'm back! After a three year disappearance I decided I should probably start blogging again... I can't guarantee I'll stay too long.  I'm terrible at this type of thing.  But I'm gonna try.

Well what's new?  I'm a mom. That's a pretty big piece of news huh?  It's been fun. Hard at times, I'll admit.  Mostly because there's many things I'd like to do around our apartment but my motivation can be shot if Little Girl doesn't want to cooperate that day.  For instance, I would LOVE to reorganize our apt.  It's so overwhelmingly cluttered.  But having a baby means I can't just dive in and dejunk.  I have to make sure she's entertained, feed her, change her, etc.  A never ending cycle of poo can sometimes get a girl down.  But in all reality I love being a mom.  And I like having the excuse of taking a break to feed her, rock her, etc.  It means I don't have to clean :) But it also means my hygiene sometimes takes a dive in the wrong direction... Eh, if I don't leave the house no one cares right?

Anyways, we have two cats now.  Willis and Jynxy.  Little Girl is just now starting to notice them.  She gets distracted while eating if she hears or sees them.  And Willis has a couple thinning spots of hair where she has grabbed his fur and yanked.  He took it well though. 

And it's kind of hard to write a return blog.  There's so much that's happened, changed, finished, started, etc.  Can't really get it in one post.  So just take a leap.  Pretend that three years of my life aren't missing between my posts and let's move on to what's going on now!

Sam starts school in less than two weeks.  Can't say whether I'm excited or not.  In some ways it will be good because he'll be closer to home and more flexibleish hours to see him.  Right now he's finishing up his internship for the summer.  I will say that has been hard on me.  Mostly because he is gone late some days... And that can be hard when I need a break from being mommy and need to be me.  But it's been a lot easier now than it was at first.  Probably because Little Girl has learned to sit up and entertain herself for 15-20 minutes at a time, which gives me a chance to pick up, eat, do dishes, shower.   Right now I'm able to even type this blog up because she's now sleeping in my lap.  I dare not move her.

Anyways, I think I'm going to hit up Pinterest and see what organization ideas I can pull together to get this apt. looking and feeling more nice.
